Design Inspiration
Elysian is the first and only watch inspired by the powerful history, rich culture and unique architecture of Republic of Moldova! A beautiful small country, that won all the challenges of the time.
A key source of inspiration came from the Ornament Moldovenesc. Characterised by its vibrant colours, geometric shapes, and meticulous details, the Ornament Moldovenesc adds a touch of elegance and sophistication to our watches.
Design Inspiration
The crown of the watch was inspired by the Chisinau Circus that was built in 1981 by Ala Kirichenko and Simion Shoyhet. The Chisinau State Circus was officially opened in 1981 and was, at the time, a top circus entertainment venue with state-of-the-art equipment and spaces for rehearsals, animals, and veterinarians. It had a capacity of 1,900 seats and the ring was over 40 feet across, making it the largest auditorium in Moldova. Circus artists would travel from near and far (Belarus, China, Finland, Germany, Russia, Ukraine etc.) to perform there, and at its peak, 57 concerts were held there in the space of a year.
Design Inspiration
The wavy patterns of the dial were inspired by another well known building from Chișinău, "Romanița". The Romanița tower used to be the tallest building in Chișinău. Romanița is an important achievement of 1970s structural engineering as all the living units on the 16 levels are designed and built to fit the circular shape of the building.
The watch hands were inspired by weapons used by Moldovan ancestors to defend their country, and the circular brushed part of the dial is inspired from the Moldovan mosaic "Plugarul Universului" by well known artist Aurel David 1972.
Design Inspiration
The rhombi and squares on the dial and case are inspired by traditional Moldovan motifs, while the sand colour represents the sand and stone commonly used in construction in Moldova.
